Do you knit year-round? Or do you only focus on the fiber arts when its cooler? Me, I knit year-round. I always have something on the needles. Whether its sock for my sock-loving aunt, new designs I am working on, or projects for me...I am always knitting. I even have projects I take with me when I have various appointments. I don't knit at the stop lights when I am driving. I'm not that bad! HA HA HA.
As we are finally beginning to warm up (FINALLY) I am sharing some cool (yes, pun intended) looking patterns for some fun summer knitting. And yes, these are freebies! Who doesn't like free stuff??
I just found this gem today and added it to my library for some summer knitting. It's a free pattern by Linda Allegra on Ravelry. While it calls for an Aran weight yarn, there are some glorious cotton and silk yarns that would be lovely for this.
Hermoinie's everyday socks is a winner. I have made a few of these (for the sock-loving aunt). A nice small project that won't cause heat stroke as you work on it in the summer. And it's never too early to work on those Christmas gifts. These socks are a free pattern by Erica Lueder on Ravelry.
Gemini by Jane Richmond (you guessed it, on Ravelry) is a fun and easy summer knit. Yes, I have made this one too. Perfect to wear with a dress, skirt, jean shorts or leggings, this top is fun, stylish and unique. The pattern calls for a DK weight yarn. I used a nice cotton yarn. Unfortunately I don't remember what yarn I had used.
There are tons and tons of free patterns on Ravelry for both knitters and crocheters. Have fun browsing and picking out a project.
Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
