Every knitter/crocheter needs a good home base, a local shop, filled with friendly faces, fantastic fiber and of course a great space to hangout. I have such a place. Thankfully, only 10 minutes from my front door. That magical place I run off to almost every Saturday is Got Your Goat Yarn Studio.
Located in Roseville, CA, GYG is my local go to place. Cindy, the shop owner, is very knowledgeable, friendly and loves to laugh. She is someone I am honored to call my friend. If you have yarn and don't have a project, she can help you find one. Have a project and don't have yarn? She can certainly help with that too. From beginning knitting, to socks and even a wonderful CoCo Knits sweater workshop. The GYG also has KALs for those who enjoy socializing while knitting.
The GYG has a wonderful team that is very friendly, super knowledgeable and share a passion for all things yarn. No project too hard or big, no question is dumb, they will all welcome you with big smile and a hello. I love hanging out here!
On a side note, Cindy and her wonderful yarn shop got me into pattern writing. I had thrown the idea around for possible pattern creation and she encourage me to do it. In fact, she had me submit one of my first hat patterns to Cascade's pattern call. And boom! I was published. That gave me the courage to keep on going! Thanks to Cindy's encouragement, I have gone on to write more patterns, get published more and self publish on Ravelry. You can find my patterns in Cascade's 60 Quick Knits from America's Yarn Stores, Knit Noro 1,2,3 skeins and soon Malabrigo's new pattern book that is currently in production.
